A FRENCH gospel choir will visit Reading this month and take listeners on a journey from slavery to liberty.
The choir of 60 voices, Les ChorAmis, will come to the UK for the first time on December 8.
Directed by Frédéric de Valors, music will move from suffering songs of Nobody Knows and Go Down Moses to the joy of Happy Days and Harlem Chapel, travelling through the origins of the spiritual in 17th century to modern times.
The choir performs in traditional dress and encourages audience participation.
The concert will take place at Earley St Peter’s Church from 7.30pm.
Tickets for the event are £10, (children and retired £7), contact Reading Haydn Choir on (0118) 0975 1228.
