Newbold goes back to the first Christmas for a successful Living Nativity

2 min read

Newbold Church helped people travel back in time to the events of the first Christmas as they hosted a stunning Living Nativity on Sunday, December 8.

The Binfield-based church teamed up with Newbold College for the hugely popular nighttime event.

Guests followed a trail round the beautiful grounds of the church and college, stopping to see key moments from the Christmas story retold through a talented cast of actors and singers.

All the participants were in period dress and the shepherds even had some real sheep to tend to – a petting zoo featuring sheep, geese and donkeys were awaiting happy visitors.

At the end of the trail, the church building was opened to allow people to enjoy refreshments and hot mince pies.

A collection was taken for charity.

The church is now preparing for a festive production of A Christmas Carol.

The Dickens’ play will be performed in Moor Close, a beautiful Jacobethan style mansion at Newbold College and perfect for getting into the mood of the Christmas cracker.

Performances are held at 4.30pm and 7pm on Saturday, December 21 and Sunday, December 22. Tickets cost £5, £2.50 for children and £12 for families.

Proceeds from the event go to a local charity.
