Salvation Army teams up with churches for some Christmas carol singing

2 min read

Members of Reading Central Salvation Army band have been busy on the streets of Reading spreading some much-needed Christmas cheer.

Band members have teamed up with Churches Together in Reading to perform at various spots around town, including The Triangle in Tilehurst and, on Thursday, December 12, in Broad Street.

For the Broad Street evening singalong, churches from Reading including Abbey Baptist Church in Abbey Square, led the singing and sweets were handed out. A collection was taken for the Salvation Army’s work.

The Salvation Army’s bands will continue to play carols right up until Christmas Eve.

The Reading Central Salvation Army’s base in Anstey Road will also be open on Christmas Eve from 10.30pm until midnight for some carol singing, mince pies and friendship.

On Christmas Day it will team up with Reading West Salvation Army on Oxford Road to host Christmas Lunch for people living alone. Advance booking is required, but everyone is welcome. It will be held at the Reading West centre.
