A concert of classical music, old favourites and show tunes is being held to raise money for the Mayor of Reading’s charities.
‘The Mayor’s Musical Medley’ takes place on Saturday February 22 at 6.30pm in the majestic surroundings of Reading Minster.
Beech Hill Concert Band featuring vocalist Tania Pratt will perform a varied programme, including music by George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein and Johann Strauss. Well loved classics like ‘E’vry Time We Say Goodbye’ and the ‘heavenly’ ‘Cheek to Cheek’ are set to be a couple of the evening’s many highlights.
Mayor of Reading, Councillor Marian Livingston said:
“I am very excited about this wonderful concert featuring such a great selection of music. There really will be something for everyone, and I’m sure that there will be much toe-tapping along to people’s favourites.
“I am extremely grateful to Reading Minster and the Beech Hill Concert Band for helping me to raise much needed funds for my three charities this year – The White Ribbon Campaign, Reading Sports Aid Fund and Reading Your Way.”
Tickets are available from Reading Arts Box Office – 0118 960 6060 www.readingarts.com – and are priced at £9.20, Concessions £5.25 (including booking fee). All proceeds will go to the Mayor of Reading’s Charity Fund.
