Can you help victims of the floods? Charity requests bedding, towels and food

2 min read

A charity that helps people get back on their feet is strugglng with demand and has issued an urgent plea for your help.

CCA, which has several charity shops in the area, says its Oxford Road support centre doesn’t have enough resources to help the flood victims that are coming for support.

Mireille Haviland, CCA’s Community Relationship Manager, said: “We have had overwhelming requests for bedding and towels in particular, and our emergency food cupboard store is empty.

“If you are able to donate any good quality bedding and towels that you no longer need, please could you bring it to our Oxford Road support centre: 369 Oxford Road, Reading, RG30 1HA, so that we can use it to help the flood victims.”

CCA also runs  its own food store to help people in desperate need – but these stocks are also low.

“We are also very short on non-perishable food items,” Mireille explained. “If you support ReadiFood, already – please do not stop supporting them! If you are able to donate some small items of food to our Oxford Road emergency store we will then be able to carry on providing emergency food supplies for clients whilst we are referring them to ReadiFood for help.”

For more details, log on CCA’s website, or its Facebook page. The Oxford Road support centre can be called on (0118) 951 2337.
