and Jonjo Warrick (Launchpad)
Reading-based homeless charity Launchpad were the focus for a charity fundraising evening at the RISC Global Café this evening, proudly hosted by the newly-formed charity music events organisation Lift Off Live
Speaking earlier before the gig commenced, Jonjo Warrick, who is Launchpad’s Office Adminstrator explained “In my spare time I get involved in music and I’m also a booking agent. That gave me the idea to start “Lift Off”. Thanks to some of the great contacts I have I was able to arrange tonight’s event. I met The Papers whilst doing Oxjam and know the other guys through the different involvements I have had with them from time to time.”
When asked what his hopes were for Launchpad and Lift Off on the back of this evening’s event, Jonjo commented “It is hoped that tonight’s event will act as a foundation for further events; perhaps quarterly, so watch out for another event possibly around June-time. I’d love to see some more stuff like this in Reading and help raise funds for Launchpad.”
Jonjo was accompanied at RISC this evening from fellow Launchpad colleague Harry McKeown who added “I’m really hoping that we can raise at least £200 from tonight. Anything above that would be a massive bonus.”
Included in the entertainment for the evening was music from Dolly & The Clothes Pegs, The Papers and Jack Cade. The most memorable performance of the evening was the absolutely stunning Helen Togher (pictured) who often features in Jack Cade’s music. Her soulful voice and harmonies pierced into Cade’s Americana-infused lilt with passion and fire.
