In a scene remiscent of Groundhog Day, the Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for the River Loddon over the weekend.
It’s only a few weeks since the last time the Loddon flooded, causing massive damage and disruption. It seems that the warmer spring weather has lulled us into a false sense of security, and after a few rainy days since Easter, the river levels are rising again.
This is the Environment Agency map as of 1423 on Sunday, showing the whole of the Lower Loddon at risk of flooding.

Wokingham Borough Council, which operates the Loddon Bridge Park & Ride site near the Showcase Cinema, has closed the facility today (Monday) as a precaution.
Hopefully the heavy rain will stay away and the water levels won’t rise any further.
The current Met Office forecast shows showers this morning, getting heavier later.
Welly boots at the ready!
