A last night of music was so popular that organisers are gearing up to do it all again … and have announced their plans before the first night.
St Mary’s Church in Twyford is looking forward to the Last Night of the Proms – a traditional evening of popular British music including Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance, Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Rule, Britannia! The programme also includes a musical tribute to Mary Poppins.
The event, to be held in the church on Saturday, September 13, follows on from last year’s hugely successful inaugural event.
Organiser Paul Bromley said: “So many people enjoyed themselves last year that we felt we just had to do it all over again.”
Starting at 7.15pm, the musical feast will start with a live performance in the church before linking up to the finale live from the Royal Albert Hall.
Acts performing in Twyford will include the High Voltage, with more names to be announced.
“We will confirm further details near the time, but we wanted to give people an early warning so that they could put the date in their diary,” Paul added.
