Pedal power and magic to make Wokingham’s weekend

It’s a super weekend in Wokingham this weekend as three great events are planned for the town centre.

Matthew Garrett will be providing entertainment for children between 11am and 1pm. The magician is a firm favourite for the Sunny Saturdays programme and will be bringing his spectacular blend of illusions to Market Place, specifically tailored to youngsters.

He is a member of the Inner Magic Circle and has been awarded the title Close-Up Magician of the Year.

In the afternoon, Berkshire Maestros will perform. The organisation runs music courses and lessons for school aged pupils and the session will showcase of their talents.

Sunday is Wokingham’s Bikeathon, helping bring National Bike Week to a close.

The sponsored bike ride offers two routes around the town, all starting from the Town Hall. The longest is 35 miles and takes in Shinfield, Twyford and Binfield while the other is 15 miles and takes in Hurst and Sherlock Row.

Charities include the Neros Foundation, The Link Visiting Scheme, Sue Ruder and Limbcare.

Broad Street will be closed to traffic on the day and the town mayor, Cllr Martin Bishop, will launch the rides at 9.30am.

More than 800 riders of all abilities are expected.

The Super Sunday Market will also be running and 21 stalls, with a sporting and leisure flavour, are open for business.
