If your child has ever wished to be Cinderella, this Sunday there’s a chance to make some dreams come true. Kind of.
This year’s Hexagon pantomime is the much-loved tale of Cinderella and the show’s producers, Imagine Theatre, are looking for local children to join the cast. No previous experience is needed and open auditions for the roles are held in Reading’s Town Hall this Sunday from 9.30am.
Boys and girls wanting to take part in the auditions should be aged between nine and 16, still be in full-time education and available to join the show which runs from December 6 through to January 4. Rehearsals will take place most weekend days and school night evenings from November 24 and it is a requirement to be available for the whole run – rehearsals and shows.
There will be three teams cast from the open session on Sunday, July 13. In the morning, all children who turn up for the auditions will be able to take part. Some of them will then be recalled in the afternoon, with the final decisions on casting made later in the day.
Children are requested to wear comfortable clothing and shoes suitable to move and dance in, and bring a non-fizzy soft drink. A lunchbreak will be held.
Those cast will then be asked to stay on for a chat about licensing and panto guidelines. They will then be an integral part in the popular pantomime, appearing on stage with the stars including Jon Clegg, Liza Goddard and Hairy Biker Dave Myers.
A spokesperson for Imagine Theatre said: “We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, and remember to get auditionees to bring their best smile with them!”
