It’s the nation’s favourite pantomime and this Christmas it will be Reading’s favourite too.

A star-studded cast, including Britain’s Got Talent finalist Jon Clegg, were in town yesterday to launch The Hexagon’s pantomime … and you’ll be pleased to know they had a ball.

Jon teamed up with Hairy Bike Dave Myers, Give Us A Clue captain Liza Goddard, Toonattick presenter Anna Williamson and two exceptionally ugly sisters (in real life the better looking Ian Ganderton and Paul Morse) to give a taste of what to expect this December.

Our exclusive video reveals that Anna is looking forward to playing the role she’s always dreamed of, while Jon reveals that Buttons is his favourite panto character to play.

Hairy Biker Dave is taking part in his first panto as Baron Hardup and has to make some decisions about how to tackle the role.

Elsewhere, the Ugly Sisters are delighted at the choice of shops in Reading and are already planning to buy some new outfits.

Originally performed in 1820 at Convent Garden, it was called the Little Glass Slipper. Buttons made his first appearance in 1860, the same year that the Ugly Sisters made a debut appearance at The Strand theatre.

The show was voted the nation’s favourite panto in a survey in 2011.

Imagine Theatre’s production of Cinderella will be at The Hexagon from Saturday, December 6 until Sunday, January 4. Tickets cost from £10.70 for school trips rising to £20.50. Discounts are available for youth groups, groups of 10 or more and are £12 for a special relaxed performance from Friday, January 2 at 10.30am.

An audio described performance will be held on Monday, December 29 from 1pm and there will be two signed performances on Tuesday, December 30 from 1pm and 5pm.
