Director, Natalie Ganpatsingh said: “We’re on a mission to connect children with our wild spaces in Reading and beyond. Over this summer and autumn we’ve teamed up with Play Reading, local conservation groups, nurseries, children’s centres and schools to bring together children and some of the amazing local parks and woodlands in the Central West Reading area. We’ve done this by having various activities including bug hunting, den building, wild art, storytelling and bushcraft. Applying for funding via the People’s Millions partnership between ITV and the Big Lottery Fund means that if we win, we can drive this project further forward and seek to make this a much wider programme.”

She added: “Sadly, a lot of the amazing green spaces we have in and around Reading are underused by the community. It’s not just our town either; parents across the land are struggling to get their kids away from the television screens, get them outside and have them enjoying some active fun. We need the people of Reading and beyond to pick up their phones, vote for “The Wild Reading Project” so that we’re in with a chance of winning £50,000.”

Nature Nurture will be live on television on November 24, 2014 as they are pitched against another project from the region. The telephone voting number will be made available when the programme airs, but in the meantime, voting pledges can be made via the following weblink: www.nature-nurture.co.uk/wild-town/
