Sir David Bell, the Vice Chancellor of Reading University today attended a ribbon cutting service to mark the inauguration of a new Claret 21 bus service which will now run around the clock, providing 24hr transport links with the main campus and Reading town centre
Reading Buses have launched their brand new range of Alexander Dennis E400 Euro 6 engined buses along the route between the town centre, the University and Lower Earley.
Reading Buses new Chief Executive Officer, Martijn Gilbert, said: “It’s a great privilege to be here to launch our new range of Claret Buses. This is the evolution of a growing partnership between the University of Reading and Reading Buses which has been going on for some six years. This is only my second week in my post at Reading Buses, but I look forward to furthering that developing partnership in the future with the University.”
The Claret bus service runs up to every 5 minutes during the day, with services dropping to half-hourly from 8:30pm to 2:30am, and then hourly from 3:00am through until 5:00am when the normal daytime schedule resumes operation.
