Your money is on the move – Berkshire Credit Union has announced plans to open new community surgeries as it switches offices in February.
The Union, which is also known as Community Savings and Loans (Berkshire Credit Union) Ltd, will move to 62 Portman Road on Friday, February 6. It will then be closed for a week as it settles in to its new location, which will be open by appointment only.
From Tuesday, February 10, it will start running surgeries at Reading libraries and advice centres, with more planned. These will run from 9am to 2pm from Tuesdays to Thursdays.
On Tuesdays, it will set up shop at Battle Library – 420 Oxford Road. On Wednesdays, Reading Central Library in Abbey Square, will be the venue. Then on Thursdays, it will be at CommuniCare, behind Wycliffe Baptist Church at 233 Kings Road, Reading.
In an email sent to members, it reveals that it is also setting up more contact points so it can reach north and south Reading.
Despite moving from its London Street offices, its phone number will still be 0118 958 5803 and its email will be email@example.com.
The email adds: “We strongly encourage members to open an online account and do transactions through here whenever possible rather than visiting Portman Road.”

Debt Advice Centre moves
Frontline Debt Advice, which also ran out of the same London Street offices, has moved to 84 Queens Road, next to Wesley Methodist Church.
It operates a 24-hour message/telephone line for people needing help and the centre is open for free advice from 10am-3pm Monday to Wednesday. Although no appointment is necessary, it recommends pre-booking to avoid disappointment.
