Justin’s back in the house! CBeebies star to appear in Hexagon Panto

Here’s some news that’s Something Special – Cbeebies superstar Justin Fletcher will be tumbling back to The Hexagon this Christmas to rejoin the panto cast after a two-year break, which has included a stint voicing the Shaun The Sheep movie. Justin, who has earnt a well-deserved MBE for his work entertaining the nation’s children, will be starring in Imagine Theatre’s take on the evergreen tale of Dick Whittington.

The CBeebies legend enjoyed three smash-hit years with the team at the Hexagon from 2010 breaking box office records for pantomime at the venue – now, he says he can’t wait come home.

“Having grown up in Berkshire, I just love spending the panto season in Reading, at the Hexagon, and look forward to building on the massive success we achieved here back in 2012.”

Justin’s talents go way beyond teaching children sign language in Something Special – as well as his sketch show Gigglebitz, he also lends his vocal talents to all manner of shows including the new movie Shaun The Sheep, which has just been released.

But the busy actor is looking forward to teaming up once again with Imagine Theatre and The Hexagon to create a wonderful Christmas show.

Justin said: “The team at Imagine really know how to create a spectacular family panto and I’m excited to be appearing in Dick Whittington.

“I’ve appeared in many different pantos but this is my first time in Dick Whittington.”

And Justin is looking forward to the legendary slosh scenes, which usually involve a lot of laughter as custard pies and other gooey messes are flung around the The Hexagon’s stage.

He added: “I’m sure there will be lots of surprises in store and plenty of custard pies as well.”

Managing Director of Imagine Theatre, Steve Boden will once again produce the Reading pantomime. He is delighted that Justin is returning to the Hexagon this season.

He said: “Justin is one of the country’s most popular pantomime performers and I’m thrilled he is coming back to The Hexagon. Dick Whittington is one of most spectacular adventure pantomimes of all and I know Justin will make a huge contribution to the comedy and slapstick fun which he is so great at delivering.”

Last year’s Reading pantomime was Cinderella, which included Anna Williamson, Hairy Biker Dave Myers and Britain’s Got Talent impressionist Jon Clegg in the cast and attracted a five-star review from Xn.

The Hexagon’s Sarah Cox says that the town’s pantomime has grown and grown over the past few years, becoming what she says is an important part of thousands of families Christmas celebrations.

She said: “Imagine Theatre have worked with us delivering one of the best pantos in the region and we are very much looking forward to working with Justin once again. His last appearance in 2012 broke all previous box office records for panto here and we’re hoping to smash that record this year.

“Pantomime at the Hexagon has formed an important part of the family Christmas for many years and we welcome generations of families each year who all remember coming to panto in Reading.

“The best seats always sell first so if you want a great view of the action, book as soon as you can.”
