If you want to give yourself a treat to ward off the impending cold weather blues try newly opened Alchemy hair, beauty and nail salon in Caversham.

The salon is completely kitted out with a vintage interior and the Grade II listed building has been restored to its original state. ‘The only exceptions are the three hairdressing chairs, the fridge and the products,’ said Trish Taylor, who manages the salon.

‘We moved here on the 16th August,’ said Trish. ‘We were the Salon Box in Reading for six years.’

With their move to glamorous new premises owner Kate Walker has added hairdressing to their repertoire of beauty treatments that include hair extensions, gel nails, manicures and pedicures, eyelash tinting and in the upstairs treatment rooms you can experience microdermabrasion, threading and sugaring (a safer way of hair removal than waxing).

‘We also do children’s pamper parties,’ said Janine McCoull, Alchemy’s hairdresser. ‘We recently had our first one; a group of girls came down and they had make-up and hair done and then had afternoon tea together. They all really enjoyed it.’

‘If you want a bit of pampering come along and have a lovely experience.’ said Trish.

There is 30% off hair dressing prices (excluding hair extensions) until the end of October.

Alchemy are holding a McMillan coffee morning on Friday October 10 with raffle prizes that include a cut and blow dry, set of false eyelashes and manicure.

Alchemy are based at 5 Church Road, Caversham
