Free swimming sessions are on offer this half-term for under 18s hortongrou/sxc.hu
This offer has now closed.
With half-term getting ever closer, parents looking for things to do will be delighted to learn that Wokingham Borough swimming pools will be offering free swimming sessions for children and teenagers.
The free swims will be available to all young people aged 18 or under, from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, February 22, at Carnival Pool in Wokingham, Loddon Valley Leisure Centre in Lower Earley and Bulmershe Leisure Centre in Woodley.
To take part, each child needs to show their own Wokingham Borough library card. If children or young people do not already have one, they simply need to visit any Wokingham Borough library and complete an application form.
Under 18s will need a signature from a parent or guardian and their parent or guardian will also need to provide ID showing their address. 18-year-olds will need to provide their own form of ID.
They must also show their library card every time they swim, which can be up to once a day, (maximum time may be restricted to an hour during busy periods).
Executive member for environment Cllr Angus Ross said: “Free swimming for youngsters has been very popular in previous years so I am pleased we are able to offer it again this February half-term. It’s a great way to exercise and have fun.
“It’s also an opportunity for young people, if they haven’t done so already, to check out our many libraries across the Wokingham Borough and discover a wealth of books, exciting clubs and events.”
The scheme is being run in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council and 1Life, the Borough Council’s leisure centre provider.
Last year, 26,000 under 18s enjoyed free swimming sessions. And nearly 100 youngsters signed up to a Wokingham Borough library.
