Berkshire organists hold recital and party

The Berkshire Organists Association is holding two events this week – an organ recital and a social afternoon.

On Thursday, January 12, it will welcome visitors to a lunchtime recital at St Nicolas Church in Newbury.

Starting at 1.10pm, they will welcome Gillian Blythman (Thatcham) and Rosemary Evans (Newbury).

The programme includes

  • ‘In dir ist Freude’, BWV 615 by J.S. Bach
  • ‘The three kings’ by Peter Cornelius
  • ‘Herr Gott, dich loben wir’ by Tunder
  • ‘Marche de rois mages’ by Dubois
  • ‘Variations on Auld Lang Syne’ by Eugene Theyer
  • ‘Sleigh Ride’ by Leroy Anderson arr. Mike Cornick.

Enrty is free, but there will be a retiring Collection.
Then, on Saturday, Janaury 14, there will be a social afternoon starting at 2.30pm.
Places for this should be booked by Monday, January 9.
It will be held at St Andrew’s URC, London Road, Reading and the special guest will be Ghislaine Reece-Trapp, an RCO prize winner and former organ scholar at Christ Church, Oxford.
There will be a talk followed by tea.
