AN EARLEY church is organising a time for reflection and prayer.
The Open Door retreat takes place at Earley St Nicolas from Tuesday, January 17.
Over nine evenings, up to 12 people will be able to join in the event, which aims to make space for people to be quiet and still and spend time with God in prayer and reflection.
Organisers say: “Many of us simply cannot make the time to go away to a retreat centre for a week or more. An Open Door retreat gives an opportunity for us to make a retreat during our day to day lives at home.”
Participants make a commitment to three things:
- To set aside at least 15 minutes every day in a place
of your choice for personal reflective prayer using the
materials that will be given you.
- To come to a two-hour session once a week for nine
consecutive weeks where you will meet together with the
others who are doing the retreat. It is important to make all
the sessions if at all possible. Here you will be given
Scriptures and other texts for use in the coming week.
- To share something of your experience of prayer with the
Places cost £20, to cover costs, although help is available if people wish to come but cost would be a barrier.
