On the Saturday closest to Valentine’s Day a church is presenting a special opportunity for couples to reaffirm their wedding vows for free and enjoy a glass of Prosecco!
Married couples are invited to come to a special event celebrating marriage at St Agnes Church in Whitley from 3pm on Saturday, February 11.
It’s an opportunity to renew their marriage vows to each other, whether they were married in a church or anywhere else.
The church said that marriage vows are the most long-term promises we ever make – to love and care for someone else for the rest of our lives! These vows are life changing – and for those that make them they are ‘The BIG Promise’.
The main aim of the BIG Promise is to celebrate, support and strengthen marriages across the nation.
The church’s vicar, the Revd Vernon Orr, said: “When a man and women marry each other all the statistics point to that commitment being a huge benefit to them and their children.
“We want to do our little bit to strengthen such marriages and giving people a chance to make those vows again to each other in public should help that.”
The event forms part of the celebrations for National Marriage Week.
The service at St Agnes Church will be led by Mr Orr and after there is a chance of celebrating with a glass of Prosecco and a slice of cake, baked by one of the couples.
The church is in Northumberland Avenue, Whitley RG2 8DE
