The Mayor of Wokingham, Cllr Peter Lucey opened the Churches Together in Wokingham Good Friday shop on Saturday.
This is the second year running that churches in Wokingham have joined forces to transform a vacant shop into the Good Friday Shop. The shop will be open during Holy Week from 10 till 4pm daily, with craft activities for children every day from 11-12.
The shop will feature a Christian art exhibition, book swap, children’s art activities, storytelling, free Easter eggs, live music and some inspirational videos.
In 2011, the Good Friday Shop attracted over 500 visitors.
“We really want to encourage people to see the importance of faith in life and rediscover the true meaning of Good Friday and Easter,” said the Revd David McLeod, Chairman of the Churches Together in Wokingham.
