Johnny Depp starred as Willy Wonka in a 2005 film version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Oompa Loompas and other small people will be given an extra special welcome to Woodley Library this Saturday as it hosts a Willy Wonka-themed fun day.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s famous book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and to celebrate, the library is holding a free event for children aged five to 12.
It will include craft activities, quizzes and cake.
Running from 1.30pm to 3pm, the event has been organised by the Local Federation of Children’s Book Groups – Getting Reading Reading.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory needs little introduction and has been turned into two fantastic big screen adventures, one starring Gene Wilder, the other Johnny Depp. A musical version has also been produced and is a West End hit.
It has delighted millions of children across the world and tells the story of Charlie Bucket as he seeks to win a golden ticket for a tour of Willy Wonka’s secret chocolate factory.
