Parishoners from a church in Tilehurst stopped and remembered the events of the First World War at a special mass held at the beginning of August.
St Joseph’s Church held a special mass on Saturday, August 2 as part of a Diocese of Portsmouth-wide commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the First World War.
The parish secretary, Sheila Jones, explained: “In remembrance of those who served in the First World War, we held a Mass of remembrance on Saturday, August 2, at 10am here at St Joseph’s.
“Not only did we celebrate a special Mass, we have been remembering those who lost their lives in each of our Masses over the last weekend.”
