Emmaline bakes off for local hospice

Trainee chef Emmaline O’Toole, 18, of Emmer Green, Caversham is putting her baking skills to good use.

Emmaline, who is learning her trade at Reading College, makes delicious cakes and tasty snacks. Her brother, Daniel buys all the ingredients and packaging needed and the pair give all the money raised to their favourite charity, Helen & Douglas House.

Helen & Douglas House provides palliative care for children and young adults and respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and young adults, and their families.

Emmaline became involved with Helen & Douglas House when she volunteered to work in the Henley-based hospice as part of the requirements for her Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Even though she now has her Award Emmaline continues to help out, not only by baking mouth-watering cakes but volunteering in one of Helen & Douglas House’s charity shops.
