The book ‘George Palmer School in Photographs’ is already well-loved and popular. It has now been updated to include colour photographs and is being re-launched to coincide with school’s change of name to ‘The Palmer Academy’ and the Heritage Open Days 2014.
‘George Palmer School in photographs’ was first published in 2004 and updated and reprinted in 2007. The book was sponsored by former pupils, staff and governors to give as leaving presents to year 6 pupils of the school.
The photographs from 1907 are in sepia and the images follow the story of the school such as its move to Basingstoke Road/ Northumberland Avenue from the Reading British School in Southampton Street. The latest photographs are in colour showing the School’s centenary celebrations.
Author Daphne and photographer/illustrator Jim Barnes-Phillips will be signing their books on Saturday, September 13 between 12.30 and 2.30 pm in Waterstones bookshop, Broad Street, Reading.
