Supper and songs at Sheepdrove

The Sheepdrove Centre Anna Louise Batchelor

Aficionados of Schumann and Brahms are in for a treat this Friday evening, May 16 as a Recital and Supper evening takes place in the impressive Oak Room at the Sheepdrove Eco Centre, Lambourn.

Mikhail Kazakevich will bring the audience an expansive repertoire from Schumann including Novelleten Op No.1 in F major and Blumenstuke Op 19, in addition to a wide-ranging collection of Intermezzo and Ballade movements from Brahms.

The Oak Room at Sheepdrove is recognised for its excellent acoustic capabilities and is also the venue for the Sheepdrove Piano Competition which takes place over this coming weekend. Distinguished Russian pianist Mikhail Kazakevich, who is also one of the Piano Competition Judges, has devised his Recital Programme around the works of Brahms, the featured composer for the Piano Competition, in addition to Schumann, who was a great friend and mentor of Brahms.

A two course supper is also served before the Recital, and is sourced from ingredients reared and grown at Sheepdrove Organic Farm. Supper begins at 6:30pm, and the performance commences from 7:30pm, ending at approximately 9:30pm.

Tickets are priced at £40.00 to include the Supper and the Recital, with Recital-only tickets priced at £15.50. All tickets are available for purchase from Newbury Spring Festival’s website, which can be located at www.newburyspringfestival.org.uk, and also at Newbury’s Corn Exchange which can be found at www.cornexchangenew.com.
