WARFIELD churches are celebrating after raising a staggering £70,000 in just one day.
The parish churches are attempting to raise £100,000 to help renovate St Michael the Archangel. On Sunday, October 14 each of the parish’s seven congregation took an offering for the project – and the event didn’t take place on a whim. The day came after 18 months of planning, and speaking to more than 100 people to plan how to best renovate the church to suit their needs.Priest in Charge of the Warfield Churches, the Revd Dr Mark Griffths explained: “We now have six months to raise the remaining £30,000. So at our next joint Warfield Church service, there will be an offering for this, and a range of fund raising activities will soon click in.”He said that the churches has until Easter 2013 to reach their £100,000 target. As we went to press, £78,000 has been raised.
The planned changes to the building hope to make it more welcoming to a wider range of people in the community.
