Leanne celebrates winning a year’s free travel with Reading Buses Reading Buses
University of Reading student Leanne Beveridge is enjoying some post Christmas cheer. For Leanne, 23, who is studying primary teaching, has won an annual bus pass worth £560 following Reading Buses Santa and elf visits to the town centre in the run up to Christmas.
As part of spreading some pre-Christmas cheer Santa and his elf gave out sweets, mince pies and special envelopes. In the envelopes were lots of online discounts for bus travel – which have been widely used.
Leanne was the one lucky person who had an envelope containing a ‘golden ticket’ which she has been able to redeem for an annual bus pass – worth more than £500.
As she collected her prize at Reading Buses Great Knollys Street depot, Leanne – who uses the buses regularly – said she was thrilled to win a year’s free travel.
“I’ve been using the buses regularly as part of my final year studies,” she explained. “I have to travel to various primary schools across Reading for training.
“I’m really grateful for this prize as it’s saving me so much money which is always a bonus when you’re a student. I was really shocked when I won as I never win anything.”
Karis Eggleton, Reading Buses Marketing Assistant – and part-time elf – said: “Everyone who got an envelope was a winner, with different vouchers giving £1, £5 and £10 off bus tickets bought online.
“On the whole, people found it fun and different – myself and Santa found people to be extremely happy to be getting these pre-Christmas treats.
“So I’m sure we will do something similar next year. We have seen lots of people redeeming their vouchers – which is great.”
