PHOTO FEATURE: Valentine’s Day is no wash-out

The wet and windy weather has done nothing to dampen the romantic spirit in Reading this Valentine’s Day – florists and confectionary sellers in the town were doing brisk business this afternoon.

As stormy conditions returned today, shoppers were out in force buying last-minute gifts. The Met Office, in its forecast updated at 5pm on Friday, has issued yellow alerts for wind and rain for the area, and predicts that the heavy rain and strong winds will last for this evening and tomorrow.

The Environment Agency says that residents need to be prepared for already high floodwater levels to rise further after last night’s brief respite.

Sunday has a brighter forecast with highs of 9C with sunny spells but some wind still remaining, gusty at times.

Our photographer was out in the streets of Reading and captured these wet and windy Valentine’s Day moments.
