Santa’s on the buses – spot him to win prizes

A ground-breaking performance of ‘Buses on Ice’ will get the festive season off to a spectacular start. Featuring Santa and his elves, Reading Buses will be flawlessly gliding their way across the ice to launch their grand Christmas giveaway at the ‘Reading Winter on Ice’ rink, Forbury Gardens, on Tuesday December 9 at 2.00 pm.

Jake Osman, Reading Buses Marketing and Communications Manager, said: “We are encouraging people to come on down and rate our performance – think dancing on ice, but with buses.

“We may even have some score cards for budding Robin Cousins’s. We may not be on the same level as Torvill and Dean, but we hope it will get people into the festive spirit.”

He said ‘Buses on Ice’ is the theme to the launch of Reading Buses grand Christmas giveaway which returns to the town for a second year – only this time bigger and better.

“Santa and his elves will once again be searching the town centre for good boys and girls on Wednesday December 10 to Friday December 12 from 4.00-6.00 pm,” said Jake.

“They will be giving out free mince pies and sweets as well as giving people the chance to win lots of great prizes including a year’s free travel on our buses.

“It’s about spreading some Christmas cheer amongst our users and having a bit of fun. We know that it’s cold and wintery whilst people are waiting for buses and the roads and town tend to be much busier. So we hope to bring a bit of sparkle to bus travel.”

He said Reading Buses have also had prizes donated by London Irish, Broad Street Mall and there’s even two tickets for Reading Winter on Ice itself which has been kindly donated by the organisers. There’s lots of prizes to win, including free tickets and money off smartcards.”

Jake added: “Santa could visit your bus stop, be on your bus, or even just on a walk down Broad Street. If he says hello, please stop and chat – you could win some fantastic prizes.
