An actor who has starred in the popular BBC TV series Doctor Who will be joining forces with a Britain’s Got Talent finalist for a new production of the popular pantomime Cinderella.
Also joining the fun is one of the Hairy Bikers, making his panto debut.
The role of Cinderella will be played by Anna Williamson, who has appeared in the CITV show Toonattik, as well as making appearances on Daybreak.
Paul Morse, who played Dame Trott to critical acclaim in last year’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk, will be appearing as one of the Ugly Sisters, teaming up with Ian Ganderton.
Jon Clegg, who played Simple Simon in Jack last year, will be fresh from making comedy look simple to Simon Cowell in Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent final.
Funnyman Jon impersonated the music mogul in his audition and was voted into the final as the wildcard.
He told the show’s website: “I’ve got quite a few new impressions planned for the Final, but I’ll be bringing out a few favourites too. I’d say the act will be 75 per cent new material.
“I’m actually working for the next few days but I’ll be rehearsing to to make sure I’m 100 per cent ready. I’ve actually got a couple of gigs. They will give me a chance to try out some new material without giving too much away.”
Jon had The Hexagon in stitches last year with his hilarious antics, and now he will entertain millions on Saturday – the show is one of most watched programmes of the year.
Hairy Biker Dave Myers also starred in Strictly Come Dancing and will no doubt be showing off some of his dance moves as he prepares to play Baron Hardup.
Doctor Who fans will be delighted to learn that Liza Goddard has been cast as the Fairy Godmother in Imagine Theatre’s production of Cinderella.
The actor has also been a team captain on Give Us A Clue and has an extensive CV that includes appearing in CITV comedy drama Woof!, Skippy The Bush Kangeroo, Bergerac and an episode of Midsomer Murders.
Her appearance in Doctor Who was in the 1983 story Terminus, starring Peter Davison as the Time Lord. The complicated story saw Goddard play a space pirate who is abandoned on a ship that traveled back to the creation of the universe and now threatens to end it.
