The Madejski Stadium will be full this Saturday as the town cheers the Royals on
Saturday is the final day of a nail-biting Championship season and sees the Royals face promoted Burnley in a must-win game.
Reading are currently sixth in the table on 70 points – a win will guarantee them a place in the play-offs and a likely match against Derby County.
Below them are Brighton, on 69 points and the same goal difference. If both Reading and Brighton draw then Reading will stay in the play-offs.
Brighton are playing Nottingham Forest, who were, until late in the season, also chasing play-off places.
Eighth placed Blackburn Rovers could also steal the play-off place … but only if both Brighton and Reading lose their games and Rovers manage to win by an eight-goal margin.
Reading defender Alex Pearce told the Royals website: “”It’s in our hands so we can certainly do it. We know it’s within touching distance if we can take care of business on Saturday.”
After the game, regardless of the result, the Royals squad will take part in a lap of honour to thank fans for their support this season.
The easiest thing for the Royals to do is to win. Thankfully, they are playing at home and the Madejski Stadium will be packed with the rafters, cheering the team on. More than 22,500 tickets have been sold already and the MadStad are expecting 23,000 to be there. Tickets are still available.
For those that can’t make it, they can watch the game on Sky Sports 1 from noon. You don’t need a Sky subscription to watch it – you can buy a day pass from Now TV for £9.99 and watch instantly online or on a smart TV or games console. We’ll also be live blogging during the match, and you can add your comments, thoughts and questions too.
The game kicks off at 12.15pm on Saturday, May 3.
