On Saturday evening 8 December, Finchampstead’s Contrast Youth Group (of which youth band Hotwire are members) provided entertainment with a difference for local folk in the village’s Memorial Hall.
The young people demonstrated their versatility in song and dance, and also drama with a modern-day nativity and a cluedo-style whodunnit.
Youth Leader Cathy Clayton watched the action from the wings, and during the interval hot food was provided courtesy of youth-group helper Elisabeth Tracey – topping up energy levels for entertainers and audience alike on the chill evening.
The Revd Julie Ramsbottom, rector for the Parish of Finchampstead & California, praised the hard work of the Youth Group, their leader and helpers for yet another excellent production.
“It was a lovely evening out, with superb entertainment and fantastic food,” she said.
Entrance to the event was free, but donations amounting to £230 were collected on the night towards youth group projects and the sponsorship of a child in Thailand’s Mercy Centre.
