Reading Football Club’s mascots Kingsley and Queensley marked the arrival of the new Prince George last week.
The club has also sent a brand new Royals kit to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the mascots were on the Madejski Stadium pitch to share in the joy of this momentous occasion for the country after it was announced on Monday, July 22.
The young prince is third in line to the throne and is the first child for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – Prince William and his wife, Reading-born Kate Middleton.
As well as its Royals nickname, Reading FC has much blue blood in its veins.
Members of the Royal Family are of course well known to the Club. Its Chairman Sir John Madejski was a guest at the Duke and Duchess’ wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
The Duchess’ parents were guests of the Chairman at our play-off fixture with Cardiff just a few weeks after the wedding.
His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales opened the John Madejski Fine Rooms at the Royal Academy of Arts, as well as the John Madejski Garden at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
The club is now gearing up for its first fixture in the Championship. Taking place on Saturday, the Royals will welcome Ipswich to the Madejski Stadium for the game, which kicks off at 3pm.
Tickets are still available. For more details, visit the club’s website.
