An assortment of random Pause Gourmande tips

The Restaurant En Coulisse in Walt Disney Studios was the fastest checkout experience – but the drinks were the smallest.

The on-tap sodas (Coke, Sprite etc) were 400ml rather than 500ml elsewhere in the park. On a cold day this might not matter, but it could on a hot day.

Tastiest Pause Gourmande

The Fuente Del Oro Restaurante opposite the Big Thunder Mountain roller coaster in Frontierland served churros. Think of them as like doughnuts but in a cable shape and you’ll get the idea.

Hot, fluffy and yummy, these were the favourite snack of the week.

Mickey Cakes were a big hit for our visit to Disneyland Paris

Mickey Cakes are yummy!

Mickey Cakes sound weird but are actually very yummy. Two sponge cakes – chocolate and vanilla – shaped into Mickey Mouse heads.

They come wrapped in cellophane so they can be stashed in to a bag for later consumption; we ended up bringing some home with us.

Orange juice may not be popular

The orange juice has bits in. Some children (and grown-ups!) may resent this. The bottles are also fairly small compared to the sodas.

Hot drinks are basic

We didn’t try any of the hot drinks, but they are served from the same machines found in the hotel for instant coffee, hot water and hot chocolate.

It’s not gourmet coffee, nor is there any indication that it is ethical or fair trade. It could be but there’s no signage.

Beware the wasps!

Watch out for wasps! Unlike Legoland, which has visible wasp traps hanging from trees, I couldn’t see any pest control. So wasps are likely to disturb you as they search out the sugar.

One of our visit ‘highlights’ was when a wasp refused to stop following us around the park as it sought out our Sprite, causing upset children until it gave up and went away.
