Sleep Out to help Launchpad

Launchpad, Reading’s homeless support charity, is holding a Big Sleep Out event again this year to raise awareness of homelessness in the town and to raise much-needed funds.

The charity is inviting individuals and groups to register for the event, and collect sponsorship to spend the night of Friday August 29 in the open air at Queen Anne’s School in Caversham. There’s a registration fee of £10 per person, and you need to commit to raising a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.

They’ll be an evening of entertainment including the ‘build your own cardboard shelter competition’ and special guests, before everyone beds down for the night on cardboard with only a sleeping bag for comfort. The evening is a tiny insight into what it’s actually like to sleep rough.

You can find more details on Launchpad’s website.
