Couples are invited to renew their wedding vows this Valentine’s Day tonypowell / sxc,hu
This Valentine’s Day couples are invited to Whitley for a romantic celebration of their relationships – and have a chance to reaffirm their wedding vows.
The offer is part of The Big Promise 2015 and is open to anyone, regardless of whether they got married in church or in a register office. It’s completely free to take part and happy couples will be able to toast their commitments with a glass of bubbly after.
It takes place at St Agnes CHurch in Northumberland Avenue on Saturday, February 14 – St Valentine’s Day – from 4pm. It will be led by the Revd Vernon Orr and the Revd Leon Collyer.
Vernon, who is vicar to St Agnes, said that The Big Promise is something that couples make when they get marries.
He said: “Marriage vows are the most long-term promises we ever make – to love and care for someone else for the rest of our lives! These vows are life changing – and for those that make them they are ‘The BIG Promise’.”
Thenational event’s aim is to celebrate, support and strengthen marriages across the nation on a day when everyone’s thoughts are turning to love.
Vernon added: “When a man and women marry each other all the statistics point to that commitment being a huge benefit to them and their children. We want to do our little bit to strengthen such marriages and giving people a chance to make those vows again to each other in public should help that.”
